A yard the day after Christmas with a deflated Santa inflatable, a leaning snowman, wrapping paper blowing in the wind, and a parent dragging a trash bag while kids play with new toys.

The Day after Christmas: A Festive Mess

‘Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring—not even my spouse.
The stockings hung limp, the tree stood askew,
And the fridge overflowed with leftovers to chew.

Twelve bags of trash, oh what a sight,
Wrappings and ribbons from yesterday’s delight.
Bows in the bathroom, bows on the cat,
A bow on my shoe—how’d it get there like that?

The table’s a maze of ham and pie,
Enough food to feed a small country, oh my!
What to do with these heaps, this holiday bounty?
If leftovers were dollars, we’d all be in plenty.

But amidst all the chaos and post-Christmas blues,
Let’s pause for a moment, reflect, and peruse.
The gifts and the laughter, the family near,
A day filled with blessings and good cheer.

For though the wrapping paper’s crumpled and torn,
A greater gift came on that first Christmas morn.
The birth of our Savior, a gift so divine,
An eternal treasure for your heart and mine.

So as we sort bows and pile up the plates,
Let gratitude grow while the turkey awaits.
Remember the reason we celebrate still:
The love of our Christ and His perfect will.

So lift up your heart, your thanks, and your voice,
The day after Christmas is still time to rejoice!
