The Mirror of Truth
I tried to be like Emmitt, but I was too slow,
No NFL rings, just stubbed toes.
Sean Connery’s charm? That wasn’t me,
Wendy’s favorite, but I lacked the pedigree.
Bill Gates had billions, I had a dime,
I balanced my checkbook one penny at a time.
Reagan inspired, with words so grand,
I just stumbled trying to take a stand.
Each time I looked, the mirror would show,
A man who never seemed to glow.
Not enough talent, not enough grace,
Just an ordinary guy in an ordinary place.
But one day I got a new mirror—strange but true,
At first, the reflection was cloudy, askew.
Yet over time, the image got clear,
And suddenly, God’s truth appeared.
He whispered, “You are chosen, loved, and free,
In MY eyes, those men don’t compare to thee.”
I had measured by the world’s design,
But God’s standard was truly divine.
No touchdowns, no Oscars, no great campaigns,
Yet to my Creator—I was worth the pain.
So now when I look, I see something new,
A child of the King—forever true!
See your worth through God’s eyes!
Ditch the world’s scorecard!
You were made for more.
